Day of Redemption at City Hall, May 6th

Updated: Apr 29, 2019

It's time for Atlanta to DIVEST from punishment and INVEST in its people!

On May 6th, the Communities Over Cages: Close the Jail ATL Campaign, will be headed to City Council for a Day of Redemption to demand an end the harm caused to our communities by the city’s extra jail, and by broken window policing, and all the harmful policies that have kept it alive. Led by the formerly incarcerated women of Women on the Rise and joined by all the member organizations of the Campaign’s Alliance, we will put forth a bold and beautiful vision of a redeemed Atlanta that invests in people not punishment.

May 6th, 10:30am - 3:00pm

Atlanta City Hall

55 Trinity Ave.

The Day of Redemption is a day of unity to collectively put forth the policy reforms needed to have Atlanta be the city we all dream of. We must close the city jail, reallocate $32.5 million back into the community, and repurpose the building into a Center for Wellness & Freedom! A redeemed Atlanta demands other policy reforms as well - such as funding for housing and homelessness, justice for immigrant communities, sustainable economies, jobs, and support for people living with HIV. Come on May 6th and tell our elected officials what a redeemed Atlanta looks like to you and your community!
